Kyrgyzstan biking: Tour 1

For those travelers who want to explore real wild places, we would like to present cycling tour, which takes place in the celestial mountains of Kyrgyz Republic. In the places that are so far from civilization you will ride your bike. The way will be along untouched mountain gorges where it is still possible to meet real Kyrgyz nomads. It is a perfect chance to feel the nature! You will see yurts (unique nomadic felt abodes) on the way. The owners of yurts will invite you for a cup of tea or kumis (staple Kyrgyz drink).

Day 1:
Arrival in Bishkek
You will be picked up from the Airport of Manas by your guide. Transfer from the Airport to Bishkek City (the capital of Kyrgyzstan) takes 30 minutes. On your arrival you will be accommodated the hotel***. It is situated in the tranquil area of the city. After accommodation you will start the day with a breakfast and have a rest. Today you will also have an excursion to Ala - Archa Natural Park. Ala - Archa is located on the Kyrgyz ridge (Tien - Shan spur), in the gorge of Ala - Archa, 45 km south Bishkek. To have a good view of this wonderful gorge we will ascend up on the top of the mount. After that we return back to Bishkek city. Dinner is served at 7 o'clock in the evening. You will spend this night in the hotel***.

Day 2: Bishkek - Kochkor - Sarybulak
This morning we will be transferred by car via Orto Tokoi water collecting reservoir to Kochkor Village. You will meet a family in Kohkor, and they will show you the way of Kyrgyz traditional felt carpets production. Together with them you even can create your own carpet! There you will also visit the museum of Kyrgyz Handicrafts. Afterwards we will ride (2310 m. alt., 38 km) to Sary Bulak Village by the asphalt road. On dirt road to confluence of Kara-Kudjur and Biulioomiu rivers is transfer (7 km, 2390m. alt.) by bike. This overnight stay will be in tents.


Day 3:
Sarybulak - Kichi-Naryn
This day riding is on the dirt road along the River of Balgart and Kichi - Naryn River. Easy day for cycling. Near Kichi - Naryn River we will spend this night in the forest, in tents. Shepherds with all their relatives were coming to this region. As a big family, all of them were going from one place to another with a great amount of livestock. Among the nomads this place is well-liked since ancient times. Some Kyrgyz big tribes could comprise about 1000 yurts. The Kyrgyz nomads like to meet travelers and they are very friendly.

Day 4: Ride (63 km) Kichi-Naryn - Naryn town
This day we will cycle along Naryn River to Naryn town (2050 m. alt.). Easy day. After having breakfast we will cycle down to (2351m. alt.) the Village of Kichi-Naryn that is found 4 km away from Kichi - Naryn and Naryn River's confluence. You will be surprised with amazing mountains beauty while cycling to Naryn. You will have many photo stops as the whole way will be along incredible gorges. Lunch is on the road. Cycling is by the main road. Naryn is a long, narrow town that was built right along the gorge near the longest river in Kyrgyz Republic - Naryn. The mountains are very close to the town. Naryn town is situated 2800 meters above sea level. This night you will be spent in yurts. Yurts are nomadic collapsible abodes. They are made out of wood without using a single nail and covered with felt.

Day 5: Transfer or Ride Naryn - Son Kul Lake (3016 m. alt.)
This day you can choose between cycling and transfer. Today we will go to the 2nd biggest lake on the territory of Kyrgyzstan - Son Kul, over the Pass of Kurtka (altitude is 3243meters a. s. l.). Son Kul Lake is the highest alpine lake in Kyrgyz Republic, situated at an altitude of 3016 m. above sea level, and surrounded by the mountains. Naryn region shepherds come to the lake to use it as summer grass land.  The riding to the gorge beginning is with a slight descent and easy. We will enter through the narrow passage to the narrow gorge with high sharp rock walls (in some places up to 200 meters). A steep ascent to the pass begins here. The descent is easier and shorter. On arrival, you will be free to walk around and enjoy the virgin nature of the lake and its environs. The Kyrgyz nomads with their families started to come to this magnificent district for relaxation and rest. Dinner and overnight are in the yurt camp.

Day 6: Son Kul Lake
This day is intended to be spent in the Kyrgyz paradise, at Son - Kul Lake. It is an excellent chance to explore Kyrgyz nature and lifestyle on your own. Optionally, you can ride on a horse along the lake's shore, or just relax in wild and calm nature atmosphere. We will stroll among the Mountains of Tian-Shan, where every nomad invites you to his yurt to try a piece of bread and drink kumis - national drink made of mare's milk. For the familiarization with nomadic traditions and culture, it is a great chance. You will spend this night in the tent camp.


Day 7: Ride Son Kul Lake - Kyzyl Korgon Canyon (80km)
Breakfast. After that we will visit the site of sacred stones with ancient inscriptions (dating back to 800 B.C.). After that we leave Son Kul Lake and cycle to the Valley of Djumgal through the Pass of Kara Keche (3381m). Upon arrival we will have a walk in the district of red canyons, high mountains, snow peaks and rocks. Overnight will be spent in the tent camp. 

 

Day 8: Ride Kyzyl Korgon - Kyrk-Kyz pass 3223m
This day we will pass near the Village of Kizil Oi (Red Canyon). Kizil Oi is a poor small village in the mountains. You will have time to walk there to see how the Kyrgyz people live in countryside. On the way to the village you will see our famous red canyons that are completely different from other mountains in Kyrgyz Republic, as well as rocks of different colors, pastures and panoramic views. This place always makes an impression on travelers and they want to come back this place one more time. This night will be spent in the tent camp.


Day 9: Ride Kyrk-Kyz pass - Ter Jailak pass 2446m - Toluk village (50km)
This day, on the way will meet many Kyrgyz herdsmen on their summer pastures. The rout will be difficult today. Even nowadays nomads come to this place and you could see how they live. It will be also possible to try national drink (kumis) that has really specific taste. Kumis is made of mare's milk that is fermented.  The Kyrgyz nomads are very hospitable and they are always happy to converse with foreign guests. You could see their felt dwellings and ask the nomads about their life. Overnight stay is in the tent camp.

Day 10: Ride and transfer to Toktogul Village
This morning after having breakfast we will start our cycling, and our chauffeur will drive behind us. The road has an abundance of unbelievable views that you will never forget and it becomes obvious that the best creation on our planet is natural world. Lunch will be taken on the way. Afterwards we will be transferred to the village where we can take a shower or optionally, it is possible to drive to the artificial lake. Free time for leisure. This night we will spend in the home stay. 

Day 11: Transfer to Bishkek City
After breakfast is drive to Bishkek. Offered through the observations of pristine nature you will be carried away by the wonderful sceneries. You will have spare time upon arrival in Bishkek to go for shopping and just to walk. You will spend this night in the hotel***.
This evening in a café you will have a farewell dinner.

Day 12: Transfer to the airport
At the pick up time prearranged according to the details of your flight your guide will collect you from the hotel and accompany you to the International Airport of Manas.

Tour summary:

Day 1: Bishkek city

Your guide meets youat Manas International Airport and accompany you to Bishkek City (30 min. drive), for a breakfast. The entire day is devoted to a guided Bishkek City Tour, including lunch. The tour includes the visiting of the central Ala-Too Square, Duboviy Park (Oak Park), Pobeda Square (Victory Square), the History Museum, National philharmonic, Oriental Bazaar, Art Gallery and many others sightseeing. Traditional dinner will be served at 7 p.m. you will spend the night in a Hotel****.

Day 2: Bishkek - Chon Kemin valley
The day starts with a breakfast at 8 o'clock. Then you will transmit to wonderful Chon Kemin valley (120km) by car. On the way visiting of Burana Tower (ruins of the ancient fortress) and an open air museum of Balbans (stone warriors). After having a traditional lunch you will have a short excursion in Issyk-Ata gorge. We will arrive at the Kalmak Ashuu Guesthouse at 7 p.m. After having checked in, you will be served dinner.

Day 3: Chong Kemin - Son Kul Lake
After breakfast we start our drive to the 2nd biggest lake in Kyrgyzstan Son Kul Lake. Lunch will be taken on the way. Son Kul Lake surrounds by mountains and it is the highest alpine lake in Kyrgyzstan, situated at an elevation of 3013 meters above sea level. Kyrgyz nomads started to come to this blessed land with their families for rest and relaxation. Herders of the Naryn region come to the lake to use it as a pastureland. After our arrival, you will have a chance to enjoy and touch  the virgin nature of the lake and its surroundings. Dinner and overnight in traditional nomadic houses - yurts. It is made of a wooden skeleton, covered with thick layer of felt. Yurts are built without nails.

Day 4: Son Kul Lake
At 9 am is your breakfast. Free time at Son Kul Lake, where you will have the opportunity to explore its nature on your own. You can ride a horse along the sparkling lake, or just relaxing in the calm and peaceful atmosphere of the lake. Lunch will be served at 2 pm. Then you will see also ancient petrogliphs and ritual stones of shamans. It is a great chance to get acquainted with nomadic traditions and culture. National dinner will be served in original nomadic houses - yurts. You will spend the night in yurts as nomads do.

Day 5: Son Kul Lake - At Bashi
After a strengthening breakfast we leave the Guesthouse at 8 o'clock by car that brings us to the At Bashi valley (200km). You will be carried away by the amazing scenery offered through views the untouched nature. Your dinner will be served at 7 p.m. After that you will spend the night in yurts.

Day 6: At Bashi - Tash Rabat Caravanserai (Stone castle)
After packing your backpacks, Breakfast  is served  at 8 o'clock Then you will transmit to the Tash Rabat- Caravanserai on the Great Silk Road (Stone Castle from the 14th century). This building is really unique. Tash Rabat is located at the very heart of Tian Shan Mountains. There is nothing in the whole world to compare with, because it was built inside a mountain at a height 3200 m above sea level. In total there are 31 gloomy rooms.. The thickness of walls is 1 m. There are also underground prison cells for ancient thieves. Traditional dinner will be served at 7 p.m. You will spend the night in yurts near by the Tash Rabat caravanserai.

Day 7: Tash Rabat - Kochkor valley
After a strengthening breakfast you will transmit to Kochkor village (185 km). At the Kochkorka village you will meet a family that provides show of how national woolen felt carpets are produced. You even can create your own carpet. You will have a traditional dinner with a local family, accompanied by a special national music show. Overnight in the Kochkor Guesthouse.

Day 8: Kochkor valley - Tamga village
Breakfast  is served  at 8 o'clock. Then you will transmit to the godlike Issyk-Kul Lake (200 km), the second largest alpine lake in the world (1608m.above sea level). The Lake is also called "the pearl of Central Asia". On the way you will drive through the excellent valley and you will pass the Orto Tokoi reservoir. When we reach Tamga village you will have a rest on the southern beach of the lake where you can lie on the nice clean beach or swim in the lake. Thanks to the salty water, Lake Issyk Kul has healing properties. Your dinner will be served at 7 p.m. in Tamga Guesthouse, where you will also spend the night.

Day 9: Tamga - Karakol
The day starts with a breakfast at 8 o'clock. Then you have free time to swim in the lake till 12 pm. Afterwards, you will start ythe way to Karakol city by car (50km). You will take lunch in the Karakol. Then you will have a guided Karakol City Tour. The tour includes the visit of the museum of M.V. Prejvalsky, one of the world's greatest explores. His the most remarkable executions were the crossing ofthe great desert Taklamakan and the discovery of more than 4000 animals, including the famous Horse  of Prejevalsky. Later, you will visit the bright decorated Dungan mosque. One of its highlights is the fact that it is consrtucted in Chinese style without using a single metal nail. This will be followed by the visit of very colorful woodenOrthodox Church. National dinner will be at 8 p.m. Night in a Guesthouse.

Day 10: Karakol - Altin Arashan - Karakol
After a strengthening breakfast you will transmit to the Altin Arashan Gorge by a heavy Russian military 4WD vehicle. Altin Arashan ("Golden Spa") gorge is one of the most famous gorges in Karakol because of the Tian-Shan fir trees that grow everywhere there. After taking a bath in hot springs (there are some special little cabins) you will take lunch in the gorge of incredible beauty. Afterwards you will have 1 hour hiking in the gorge and then you will transmit to the city. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. Night in a Guesthouse.

Day 11: Karakol - Cholpon Ata
Breakfast is served at 8 o'clock. After the breakfast you will transmit to Cholpon Ata city along the along the northern shore of the  flickering pearl of Central Asia - Issyk-Kul Lake(120km). On the way, we will make a short break at 1 pm, where you can enjoy lunch in a relaxed atmosphere . Afterwards we will give you the opportunity to visit ancient stone inscriptions (dating back to 800 B.C.), including the local museum. The museum is devoted to the Issyk-Kul Lake, which's beauty you will be able to enjoy to the full during another break, where you go on a one hour cruise on a steam boat. Your dinner will be served at 7 pm in a Hotel, where you will also spend the night.

Day 12: Cholpon Ata - Bishkek
You will have breakfast at 8 o'clock. Free time on the beach till 11 o'clock. After that you will transmit to Bishkek city (280km) by car through a staggeringBoom Gorge. At 7 pm a farewell dinner is served. Night in a Hotel****.

Day 13: Bishkek - Europe
our guide will meet you at your Hotel  at the previously arranged time  and accompany you to Manas International Airport.
